BLOG 3 WEEK 7

How Author Described Something: "At regular intervals along all the local freeways and access roads, concrete arches hid .50 caliber, high speed, radar guided gun mounts similar to those used to shoot down missiles and capable of cutting cars and trucks-- even armored, military style trucks-- to hamburger filled scrap within seconds"
When I usually read passages like this one, I compare what the author describes with something in the real world. In this case, I compared this description to Fort Knox. The establishment that he is describing in the story is very similar to Fort Knox in that both places are highly armed and are near a freeway. I envisioned it to be a big white warehouse, with a huge long barbed wire fence surrounding the perimeter, and guard towers at intervals along the fence. It is not meant to draw attention, but it looks like it means business.
